Learn the art of iconography in the Russian-Byzantine style, using the medium of egg-tempera and gold leaf gilding. At all iconography workshops and weekly classes every step of the process is demonstrated and its theological symbolism explained. Instructor Irene Perez, has a BFA degree in Studio Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, studied iconography under Vladislav Andrejev from 1997 to 2014. Ms. Perez graduated from the Antiochian House of Studies St. Stephen’s Course in 2014 and went on to get her M.A. in Applied Orthodox Theology with a specialization in Iconology from Balamand University in 2016.

TWO-WEEKEND ICONOGRAPHY WORKSHOP IN HOUSTON, TX
Rescheduled for APRIL 27th – 29th & MAY 11th – 14th, 2017, due to death in the family.

This two-weekend workshop is open to students of all levels. You must be able to attend the three days on both weekends in order to participate

  • Location: Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Ave., Houston, TX 77002.

  • Schedule: Classes begin everyday at 9 A.M. and end at 5 P.M. Lunch break is usually around noon for one hour. You may bring your lunch our you may go out to eat nearby. Ask the coordinator for details.
  • Please bring to class a notepad or notebook, a mechanical pencil, eraser, ruler, a regular hand towel and  a digital camera, smart phone or iPad if you have any one of these.  Taking pictures of the demonstrations is helpful when you go back to your table to work.
