This will be an experience to remember for many years! The workshop will take place in the beatiful 50-acre Farm Estates of Terre di Baccio in the town of Greve in Chianti, in close vicinity to the city of Florence, Italy.
Students should plan to arrive on Oct. 1st. That evening, we will enjoy a welcome reception with hors'd'ouvres and wine tasting from the wines of Terre di Baccio, compliments of the owner and classmate!, Paolo Ventrini.
The 10-day workshop will be divided into two portions. We will begin with 5 days of ICONOGRAPHY in which the students will paint an icon of Christ on the Cross. The boards will be in the shape of a budded cross. The last 5 days of the workshop will be the SILVER REPOUSSAGE portion in which the students will make 4 ornamental buds for the ends of the arms of the cross in .999 fine silver, pewter or copper. It will be the students choice, but we recommend the fine silver.
There will be a day of rest on Saturday Oct. 5th: On this day, we will go as a group to visit the Galleria dell'Accademia to view their unique collection of Russian icons which date from the 16th-19th cty. and includes some treasures from 15th cty. Cretan and Byzantine icons, and afterwards a short tour of the Giusto Manetti gold leaf factory. The afternoon and evening will be free for shopping and dinner. We will have private transportation for this day.

- Silver Repoussage Instructor: Maga Paoli, architect, jewelry designer, repoussage artist, from Venezuela. She currently resides in Monterrey Mexico, where she sells her jewelry creations and teaches weekly classes in the art of repoussage as an art in itself and also applied to the art of iconography.

- Lodging at the Estate of Terre di Baccio: There is a variety of choices for rooms within Terre di Baccio Estates. All the prices for the rooms are listed in Euros (€.) You may book a double room (two single beds and bath ensuite); Suites with 1B/1B, and a sofa bed for two students; as well as Apartments for three with 2B/2B, sofa bed, living room and kitchen, which cost only €20 more/night and would be excellent for students who want to share and be more at ease during the 12 days stay.
- Three additional excursions will be available after the workshop is over. One will be to Sant Antimo Montalcino where there is a gorgeous Cathedral from mid-1200's where we can attend a mass with Gregorian Chants. This excursion costs €500. It is an experience. The second excursion will be to Lucca and Pisa for €665. The third excursion will be to Siena, San Gemignano for €580. All excursions include a private bus for transportation. Additional lodging charge at Terre di Baccio for the extra nights apply.
